Economic ties between Armenia and Georgia develop dynamically – political scientist
Economic ties between Armenia and Georgia are developing dynamically, political scientist Hrant Melik-Shahnazaryan told Panorama.am when commenting on intensified Armenian-Georgian relations.
Panorama.am reported earlier citing the press office of the Armenian government that Prime Ministers of Armenia and Georgia made a visit to the Kazbek (Darial) border checkpoint where they reached an agreement to extend operating hours of the checkpoint on the Georgian-Russian border from 5:30 am to 12:00 midnight. About a month ago the operating schedule was extended by 3 hours (6 am- 9 pm instead of 6 am – 6 pm) thanks to a discussion between the two prime ministers.
Melik-Shahnazaryan said the new agreement will considerably facilitate the movement of goods from Armenia to Russia.
“Given the fact that Armenian prime minister also traveled to Georgia a month ago, and in general, frequent visits show that a renewed impetus will be given to trade and economic cooperation. In addition to trade and economic interests of the two countries, the processes based on good personal relations contribute to that. The prime ministers are on good terms with each other. I hope it will promote economic development,” H. Melik-Shahnazaryan said.
