Haykakan Zhamanak: Post of justice minister remains vacant for 15 days
‘Haykakan Zhamanak’ writes that the post of justice minister of Armenia remains vacant for 15 days, although it is rumored in parliament’s lobbies that MP Koryun Nahapetyuan who is the chairman of the parliamentary standing committee on defense, national security and internal affairs will be appointed to that post.
“Nahapetyan’s appointment is said to have been delayed for two reasons. First, he was elected a parliament deputy from Yerevan’s electoral district N 008, and the authorities need time to decide who will be their candidate in the by-election: a by-election shall be held in that electoral district within 40 days after his appointment as minister.
If Nahapetyan is appointed justice minister, the position of the abovementioned standing committee’s chairman and the post of head of the Armenian delegation to NATO PA – both posts are now held by Nahapetyan - will become vacant.
The paper learned that candidacies of MP Levon Martirosyan as head of Armenian delegation to NATO PA and of MP Khosrov Harutyunyan as standing committee head are being discussed.
