Armenian rescuers help animals in distress and respond to call about aliens
The Emergency Service of Armenia ‘911’ received over 390 snake-related calls this year, according to Hovhannes Khangeldyan, Head of National Crisis Management Center of Armenian Ministry of Territorial Administration and Emergency Situations.
He told a press conference today that in all the cases a rescue crew was sent to the scene, and in 48 of 191 cases it turned out that the snake was poisonous. Snakes will continue to be active in the next 1-2 months, he noted.
At the request of reporters, H. Khangeldyan spoke about unusual calls to the rescue service. Thus, women quite often call with a request to help them take the washing off the line or because they are afraid of an insect. He added that it is also quite common for rescuers to receive calls about aliens.
The crisis management center chief stressed that no call remains unanswered. Rescuers frequently come to the rescue of dogs and cats when they are in trouble. They recently saved several storks that suffered burns and injuries and took them to the zoo.
