Number of accidents on the rise – head of crisis management center says
The number of emergencies and accidents rose in Armenia in the first half of 2015. 5,757 accidents and emergencies were reported. They left 276 people dead and 4,191 injured, which was largely due to an increase in fires (their number grew by 240) and road crashes (by 92), Head of the National Crisis Management Center of Armenian Ministry of Territorial Administration and Emergency Situations Hovhannes Khangeldyan told reporters today.
3,340 technogenic accidents were reported. They accounted for a majority of the reported accidents and increased by 335 compared to the first half of 2014.
There was a 1% decline in the number of people who died in accidents and a 4% rise in the number of injured persons, Khangeldyan said.
