Aleppo orphanage children to attend summer camp in Kessab
The situation is the same in Aleppo: rocket explosions are heard constantly, and different districts of the city receive only several hours of electricity and water a day, the spokesman for Berio Diocese of the Armenian Church Zhirayr Reyisian told Panorama.am.
“Yet these are difficulties that people are able to resolve,” he said.
At a meeting with Armenian Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan on July 30, Consul General of Armenia Tigran Gevorgyan expressed concern about the fate of Aleppo nursing home with 46 elderly people and the orphanage that has 30 children, the press service of Diaspora Ministry reported. Reyisian said in that connection that there is no nursing home as such - the elderly were moved to Gulbenkian hospital and now live there.
“It does not mean that their conditions are bad: every effort is made to meet their needs. No one in Aleppo is safe from rocket attacks. No one in Aleppo can say today that this neighborhood is safe and the other is not. Everyone can be hit by a rocket or a shell,” Reyisian said.
As regards the children’s shelter, which is located in Armenian-populated Nor Gegh district of Aleppo and was damaged in rocket attacks, Reyisian said it was somewhat repaired. “The small kids of the orphanage spend their time in Levon Shant Hall of Aram Manukian House in Aleppo. They are surrounded by care. They will probably return to their residence in the next few days, “ Z. Reyisian said adding that in midAugust the children will travel to Kessab to attend a summer campo there.
