Viticulture is a promising branch of Armenian agriculture, minister said
Viticulture development is a promising direction of Armenia’s agriculture, Armenian Agriculture Minister Sergo Karapetyan said at a meeting with Prof. Laszlo Kocsis of Pannonia University, Hungary. The minister stressed the need for an efficient fight against disease of grapevines.
Laszlo Kocsis arrived in Armenia as part of Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) program on the conservation and sustainable use of genetic resources of grapes in Armenia, the press service of Agriculture Ministry.
The Hungarian expert said it is not his first visit to Armenia: he visited our country previously for monitoring of vineyards and consultations with Armenian specialists. He said that phylloxera, an insect plaguing grape vines, is common in many countries where measures are being taken to fight it.
