Haykakan Zhamanak: Minister hopes society to prevent authorities from distorting building exteriors
Armenian Minister of Culture Hasmik Poghosyan hopes that society will not allow the authorities to break the law by distorting the exteriors of buildings included in the list of historical and cultural monuments.
“I think the more progress independent Armenia makes, the less problems of this kind will face it as the society develops and sets its standards which are as strong as laws,” she told the correspondent of ‘Haykakan Zhamanak’ daily.
According to the paper, information was received from Yerevan Municipality and Armenian Culture Ministry that the house at 8 Abovian Street in Yerevan is the next building to undergo changes. It is not ruled out that new stories may be added to the building, the daily says.
