Zhoghovurd: Tobacco product output grows 37% in first half of 2015
The output of tobacco products in Armenia grew by 37% in the first half of 2015 compared to the same period of 2014, ‘Zhoghovurd’ paper writes citing official statistical data.

Yet, statistical data also shows that trade turnover declined in the first half of this year compared to the same months of 2014, which bears evidence of a decline in the purchasing power of consumers.
“It is no accident that the output of tobacco products increased amid a decline in consumers’ purchasing power. The point is that prices of imported tobacco products are at least 10-20% higher than local prices. In other words, due to the decline in purchasing power, naturally the consumer buys local goods – cheaper cigarettes,” the paper explains.
