Cucumber prices rise 49 percent in July
Prices of food commodities fell by 4.6% in Armenia in July 2915 compared to June, which was mainly due to a decline in prices of fruit, vegetables, potato and egg by 5.3-29.1%.
Data released by National Statistical Service today shows that 0.2% -29.1% price fall was recorded in 11 of the 13 food commodity groups monitored, a 0.3% price increase in one group, and prices in another group remained the same as last month.
Prices in the fruit commodity group fell by 11.1% in July 2015 on July 2014 and by 29.1% compared with June 2015. At the same time, dried fruit prices rose 3.7% in Armenia. A fall in fruit prices was recorded in all Armenian cities in July on June 2015, and the prices fell the most in the city of Yeghegnadzor. Fruit prices in the capital city of Yerevan declined by 29.7%.
Prices in vegetable and potato commodity group rose 9% in July 2015 on July 2014 and fell 10.7% as compared to June 2015, mainly to a fall in prices of beet, eggplant, beans, cauliflower, green pepper, carrot, cabbage, herbs, mushroom, and scallion. At the same time there was an increase in prices of onion (1%), potato (3%), garlic (8.8%) and cucumber (49%). Potato and vegetable prices fell by 6.8-23.8% in all cities of the republic in July on June 2015. Potato and vegetable prices in the capital city fell 17.7%.
