Zhoghovurd: Brother and nephew of Suren Khachatryan to be arrested soon
In addition to Tigran Khachatryan – the son of Syunik province governor Suren Khachatryan, the governor’s brother Seyran Khachatryan and his nephew Eyner Khachatryan will be detained soon, ‘’Zhoghovurd’ paper says citing sources.
On May 2, charges were brought against Seyran and Eyner Khachatryans under Article 118 of the Criminal Code as part of an investigation into the incident that took place in the area better known as Sdkhi Gyol. They were released on their own recognizance not to leave the country.
“The newspaper learned that the prosecutor supervising the investigation had instructed the investigator to toughen the charges brought against the Syunik governor’s brother and nephew as they are also to blame for the incident, along with three other people already detained over Sdkhi Gyol incident.
The investigator disputed the decision in a higher body, but as a result, the prosecutor’s decision remained in force, while the investigator was told to toughen the charge and then file an application to choose arrest as a measure of restraint against Seyran and Eyner Khachatryans,” the paper reports.
