Arab states of Persian Gulf set up single security structure
The member countries of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Persian Gulf (GCC) have established a single structure in order to ensure security, the General Secretary of that regional organization Abdellatif al-Zayani was reported by ITAR-Tass news agency as saying this in Riyadh.
The new structure will carry out its tasks in cooperation with the authorities and security forces in each of the GCC countries, as well as in coordination with similar structures all over the world in order to prevent all kinds of crimes, the secretary general said.
The foundation of the new structure is first of all related to the need to counter the Islamic State (ISIL) militant group-posed threats. The single security structure will be headquartered in Abu Dhabi.
