German Cup match suspended after referee hit in head
A German Cup match between two lower-tier teams was abandoned in the second half after the referee was hit in the head by a lighter thrown from the stands.
Referee Martin Petersen did not appear to be seriously hurt but he sent the teams to the changing rooms in the 71st minute.
At the time, the home side Osnabrueck, a third-tier team, was leading 1-0 against heavy favorite RB Leipzig, a second-division club.
Osnabrueck scored 23 seconds into Monday's opening-round match.
The German football federation (DFB) immediately launched an investigation, Sunherald.com reported.
