Murder of the Avetisyan family lasted 15 minutes: accused soldier Permyakov
The Russian garrison court in the Russian 102nd military base located in Gyumri, Armenia, is hearing today the desertion case of Russian soldier Valery Permyakov. The soldier pleaded guilty, but refused to testify. For that reason the prosecutor read aloud the evidence the accused man gave during the preliminary investigation.
When giving evidence earlier, Permyakov said that on January 12, the day of the crime, he deserted the military base around 2 am. He said he left his military unit because he was missing his family so he intended to go to Russia via Turkey.
V. Permyakov said in his evidence that he entered the house of the Avetisyans with intent to steal money and valuable items. After committing the crime, he took only 5,000 drams and cell phones, but he discarded the cards of cell phones after he left the house.
According to Permyakov, the murder of the Avetisyans lasted about 15 minutes.
The correspondent of Panorama.am reports that Permyakov’s fellow servicemen testified as witnesses in the court. When reading the evidence in the court, the prosecutor occasionally interrupted reading to ask Permyakov if he indeed said such a thing during the interrogation, and Permyakov would nod in assent.
The court is expected to make a decision on this case today.
