Haykakan Zhamanak: Arpine Hovhannisyan to be appointed justice minister
Members of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) said that after long discussions, those in the top echelons of power came to the conclusion that Koryun Nahapetyan should not be appointed as justice minister of Armenia, ‘Haykakan Zhamanak’ daily says.
“The point is that Nahapetyan was elected a member of Armenian parliament under the majoritarian system, and in case of his appointment as justice minister, a by-election will be held in electoral district No 8, which will require additional funds. Besides, Nahapetyan is chairman of the parliament’s standing committee on defense, internal and national security affairs so elections need to be held here, too.
RPA members say that the choice is deputy of RPA parliamentary faction, MP Arpine Hovhannisyan whose candidacy was endorsed by Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan from the very beginning,” the daily writes.
