Following the end of the European Games the military-political leadership of Azerbaijan has constantly destabilized the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani state border and in the responsibility zone of Defense Army of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic (NKR), the spokesman for Armenian Defense Ministry Artsrun Hovhannisyan wrote on his Facebook page.

“Ceasefire violations are committed every day with the use of small arms of various calibers as well as 60 mm and 82 mm mortars. Defense Ministry of Armenia almost on a daily basis releases statistics of violations.

Last night Azerbaijani troops fired 109 shots from 82 mm mortars alone at Armenian positions. In the indicated period Azerbaijani subversive groups took two unsuccessful attempts to infiltrate into the border zone.

The Armenian side has repeatedly warned the military-political leadership of Azerbaijan that the aspiration to resolve the conflict by military means and statements made to that effect are a self-delusion, while the provocations carried out based on that logic are fraught with unforeseeable consequences for the Azerbaijani army.

Armenian Defense Ministry once again stresses the need to resolve the conflict exclusively by peaceful means, and for this purpose it is necessary to respect the ceasefire on the line of contact of the armed forces, create an atmosphere of mutual trust, and introduce mechanisms for international investigation of ceasefire violations,” the statement says.
