Russian military court sentences V. Permyakov to 10 years in prison
Yesterday, during a trial in the Armenian city of Guymri, the Russian garrison military court sentenced today Valery Permyakov, a conscript of the Russian 102nd military base in Armenia, to ten years in prison.
The Russian garrison military court subordinate to the North Caucasus district military court passed a sentence regarding three articles of the Criminal Code – desertion, theft of weapons and ammunition, and illegal purchase, transfer, sale, possession, and carrying of weapons .
Earlier today, V. Permyakov pleaded guilty to desertion and illegal carrying of weapons, but he refused to testify at the trial.
The case opened under the article ‘murder’ will be investigated and examined in court separately. As reported, it was announced in late June following a meeting of Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan and Russian Minister of Transport, Co-chairman of the Armenian-Russian Inter-governmental Commission Maksim Sokolov that Armenian agencies will deal with the investigation and trial of the Gyumri family murder case.
To remind, the press service of the Armenian police said in January that the ambulance service received a call on January 12, 2015 that several people were found dead with gunshot wounds in house N 188 on Myasnikyan Street in the city of Gyumri, Armenia’s Shirak province. A task force sent to the scene revealed that an unknown person shot and killed 6 members of the Avetisyan family in their home. The seventh member of the family, 6-month-old Seryozha Avetisyan, was hospitalized with stab wounds and died on January 19.
