Bird attempts to perch on Erdogan’s head
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan released a number of birds at the opening of a mosque in the Black Sea Province of Rize in an effort to show his environmentalist side, but one partridge insisted on perching upon the Turkish president’s head, Hurriyetdailynews.com reports.
Erdoğan was in his father’s home town in Rize’s Güneysu district on Aug. 14 to open a unique mosque which had been built on top of the 1,130-meter Kıble Mountain in the area. After the inauguration, Erdoğan planted trees in the park across from the mosque before releasing a number of doves, pheasants and other birds.
“Let them see how environmentalist I am,” Erdoğan said, while releasing a partridge.
The released partridge returned quickly though, before trying to perch on Erdoğan’s head.
