Armenian president meets Venice Commission members
Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan received yesterday, on August 24, members of the European Commission for Democracy through Law (Venice Commission), the presidential press service said.
President Sargsyan thanked the guests for their highly professional assistance with the process of preparing the draft new Constitution of Armenia. He stressed the importance of their support for law reforms in the country.
It was noted at the meeting that there are no principled disagreements about the draft new Constitution of Armenia. An exchange of opinions took place regarding modern constitutional developments and democratic innovations included in the draft new Constitution.
On August 25 the Venice Commission members will meet with representatives of Armenia’s political forces to discuss the draft Constitution of Armenia approved on August 20 by the Commission on Constitutional Reforms under Armenian President.
