Azerbaijani media pass off photo of Georgian soldier killed in 2008 as “killed Armenian soldier”
Azerbaijani news agency ANSPRESS published Azerbaijan Ministry of Defense press release with a photo of a Georgian soldier killed in South Ossetia in August 2008 passing it off as a killed Armenian soldier.
Notably, the Azerbaijani-language media frequently circulate the photo in question in news of similar context from the frontline. Google search of the photo shows that the photo of the Georgian soldier killed back in 2008 has been used in different times for different sham materials about losses of the Armenian side.
Remarkably, this is not the first case the Azerbaijani propaganda uses false or faked photos as proofs of its claims. Azerbaijani website 1news.az attached the photo showing the victims of the Armenians’ pogroms in 1905, who corpses were gathered in the courtyard of the Armenian Church in Baku, to the article about fictitious "genocide in Shamakhi" allegedly committed by the Armenian Dashnaks and Bolsheviks. Moreover, a propaganda website on Armenia-Azerbaijan thematic, created on the initiative of Azerbaijani MP Elkhan Suleymanov, publishes false information and abounds in faked photos that have nothing to do with “Azerbaijani victims.” The most striking cases of the use of sham and fake photos by the Azerbaijani propagandists is the illustrative component of the so-called “Khojalu tragedy.” The Armenian side gathered and analyzed all the evidences of falsifications on the website http://xocali.net.
