Overturned truck spills thousands of live chicks on road in China
Tens of thousands of live chicks were let loose on a highway after a traffic accident in Binzhou, Shandong Province on August 25.
A truck carrying the baby birds overturned and spilled its feathery load across the road, reported the Chinese language Beijing News.
Some of the chicks were injured or died but most of them escaped alive.
As soon as the news of the accident spread, residents of a nearby village rushed to the scene to snatch the young birds, according to gbtimes.com.
Police were unable to stop the swarm of looters. The truck driver said the load was worth 50,000 yuan (USD 7,799).
