No reason for panic – potato prices will decline soon: Armenian agriculture ministry
Potato production in Armenia suffices to meet domestic demand and export needs, and the situation has not changed this year as well, Armenian Agriculture Ministry said in a statement.
There was a disruption in stable supplies of potatoes to the market in August in connection with the harvest periods of early-ripening potato varieties grown in Ararat Valley and late-ripening varieties cultivated in northern regions of Armenia, which temporarily pushed up potato prices, the statement notes.
“We assure consumers that potato prices will be declining until the first half of September, and at the end of September potato prices will be the same as in the past few years,” the agriculture ministry said noting the ministry keeps the situation under control and positive changes will become apparent in the nearest future.
