Posts are of no importance, the main task is to resolve problems in country – PM Abrahamyan
Knowledge Day on September 1 is marked with festive events in all the Yerevan schools where a new academic year has begun. Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan and Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan congratulated first graders in Yerevan school no 155 after Levon Mirijanyan.
During a talk with reporters, the prime minister answered questions about the draft new Constitution of Armenia. The best option will be chosen through discussion, he said.
The PM expressed an opinion there is political consolidation around the idea of implementing constitutional reforms. “Representatives of various political forces have met with the president,” he reminded those present.
Asked by reporters what post he sees himself holding after the completion of the constitutional reform, Hovik Abrahamyan said: “Still the position of prime minister”. “It is up to the people to decide. Only a high post,” he added.
The PM stressed that posts are of no importance, and the main task is to resolve the existing problems in Armenia.
As was reported, President Serzh Sargsyan submitted on August 21 the draft amendments in the Constitution of Armenia to the National Assembly. The draft amendments had been developed by the Commission on Constitutional Reforms under Armenian President. Vardan Poghosyan, a member of the Commission, has been appointed as official representative of Armenian President for presentation of the draft amendments to the Constitution in the National Assembly of Armenia. The head of state also instructed the Commission on Constitutional Reforms under Armenian President to continue the dialog with the Venice Commission (VC) over those issues indicated in the VC’s preliminary opinion, around which no agreed solutions have been found so far. Besides, last week Serzh Sargsyan has held consultations on the approaches stated in the draft new Constitution with representatives of various parties.
