Defense minister of Armenia: Situation on border and line of contact with Azerbaijan is under control
The situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border and along the line of contact between the armed forces of Karabakh and Azerbaijan is under control. As usual, Armenian troops confidently fulfill their combat tasks and the people may feel secure, Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan told journalists today during his visit to Yerevan musical school after Tchaikovsky where his children study.
The minister said the number of shots at Armenian positions increases at one point and declines at another. “Of course, all necessary measures are being taken on the frontline. The enemy made several attempts of reconnaissance-subversive infiltration. The Armenian side foiled those attempts on the line of contact with troops of Nagorno Karabakh”, he said.
Commenting on the draft new Constitution of Armenia, S. Ohanyan said Defense Ministry took an active part in discussions by submitting its proposals, all of which have been accepted.
“Solution of security and defense problems is fully guaranteed in the draft Constitution. We have no objections,” the minister stressed.
In response to a question about expectations from the meetings with the OSCE Minsk Group Co-chairs this autumn, Ohanyan said any meeting held as part of the negotiating process on resolution of the Karabakh problem is expected to strengthen peace, at least at the current stage.
