The situation on the frontline is not something new for the Armenian army, which is in full control of the situation, while the tension is easing, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces Lieutenant General Movses Hakobyan told reporters today when commenting on the developments in recent day on Armenian-Azerbaijani border and the line of contact between the armed forces of Karabakh and Azerbaijan.

He recalled that the frontline situation was much more strained in July and August 2014 as compared with the current situation.
M. Hakobyan indicated the policy conducted by the Azerbaijani authorities as the reason for the escalation.

“Every time the mediators start to work actively and organize meetings, Baku tries to aggravate the situation in order to blackmail the OSCE Minsk Group Co-chairs by saying that the situation allegedly does not suit them and they will take practical steps to solve the Karabakh problem in their favor,” Hakobyan said.

In his words, one also should not be surprised by the use by Azerbaijan of weapons supplied by Turkey – this has always been done, and the Armenian side is aware.

“Instead of expiating its sins, Turkey is escalating the situation in the region, trying to play a role in the resolution of the Karabakh conflict,” M. Hakobyan said.
