Expert: Presidents of Armenia and Russia sent important message to Baku, result already visible in Azerbaijani media
The circumstance that Serzh Sargsyan and Vladimir Putin stressed in their speeches the fact of Armenia’s being a full member of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) is a remarkable moment of the meeting between Presidents of Armenia and Russia yesterday, on September 8, political scientist Aram Manukyan told a press conference in Yerevan today.
“It was a kind of message to Azerbaijan. The message hit home, which is evident from comments published by the Azerbaijani mass media,” the expert noted.
As was reported, on September 7 Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow as part of his working visit to Russia. Serzh Sargsyan thanked Moscow and his Russian counterpart for efforts to look for new avenues aimed at the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. “In the last two weeks, the situation on the border is very tense. Besides large-caliber firearms, the Azerbaijani side is using artillery. Of course, we are forced to respond. I will dwell more on it during the CSTO summit in Dushanbe,” the Armenian president said.
