Draft new Constitution of Armenia gets go-ahead, put on parliamentary session agenda
The draft amendments to the Constitution of Armenia have been included today in the agenda of Armenian National Assembly’s plenary sitting of the NA autumn session which starts on September 15. The parliamentary standing committee on state and legal affairs gave a positive opinion about the draft.
Among those who spoke against the draft amendments were independent MP Edmon Marukyan, members of opposition factions ‘Heritage’ and ‘Armenian National Congress’ Zaruhi Postanjyan and Gagik Jangiryan, as well as MP Tigran Urikhanyan.
Member of the Commission on Constitutional Reforms under Armenian President, the official representative of the Armenian president to the parliament on constitutional reform issues Vardan Poghosyan was appointed the main reporter.
