Yerevan man charged with shooting outside courthouse gets 9 years
Hayk Kyureghyan – a man who opened fire outside the court of general jurisdiction of Kentron and Nork-Marash administrative districts in Yerevan on June 12 last year - was sentenced to 9 years in prison.
The sentence was pronounced today. The prosecutor had requested a 14-year prison sentence for Kyuregyan.
On June 12, 2014 Hayk Kyureghyan, a 31-ywar-old resident of the city of Yerevan, climbed on top of a car parked in the yard of the court of Yerevan’s Kentron and Nor-Marash districts and said there is a bomb in the car. He ignored lawful orders of the police, pulled out a pistol and opened fire at policemen, several of whom received injuries and were hospitalized.
