Armenian linguists to work on text of draft constitutional amendments
Armenian linguists will work on the text of the draft amendments to the Constitution of Armenia, Vardan Poghosyan - the Armenian president’s official representative on constitution reform issues in the parliament – said in the National Assembly of Armenia today.
He made that announcement in response to MP Samvel Farmanyan’s question about the opinion of Armenian language experts of the draft’s text.
The eighth session of the Armenian parliament of the 5th convocation began yesterday, on September 15. The parliament started the first four-day sittings with debates of the draft constitutional amendments presented by Vardan Poghosyan. He said that the main goal of the proposed constitutional changes is to establish a stable democratic system in Armenia and guarantee the rule of law,which is the cornerstone of a legal state.
Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan submitted on August 21 the draft amendments in the Constitution of Armenia to the National Assembly. The draft amendments had been developed by the Specialized Commission on Constitutional Reforms adjunct to Armenian President. Vardan Poghosyan, a member of the Commission, has been appointed as official representative of Armenian President for presentation of the draft amendments to the Constitution in the National Assembly of Armenia. Besides, Serzh Sargsyan has already held consultations on the approaches stated in the draft new Constitution with representatives of various political parties.
