Zhoghovurd: Cities of Meghri and Agarak have no gas networks
Armenia’s Meghri and Agarak still have no gas supply networks, although Iran-Armenia gas pipeline runs near these cities.
In 2011 Iran gave Armenian Ministry of Energy a $2 million grant for installation of gas networks in those cities, and last year almost $500,000 was allocated from the Armenian state budget for the same purpose. The pipes and necessary equipment were brought to Armenia long ago. ‘Zhoghovurd’ paper learned from Gazprom Armenia Company that they have no plans to install a gas network in Meghri and Agarak.
“This is nothing other than a concrete example of embezzling funds allocated to the state,” the paper says.
