Armen Harutyunyan sworn in as ECHR Judge
The official swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected judge of the Republic of Armenia Armen Harutyunyan took place today in the European Court of Human Rights.
The correspondent of Panorama.am reports from Strasbourg that all the Judges of ECHR and President of the ECHR Dean Spielmann were present at the ceremony. Armen Harutyunyan swore to perform his duties as judge with dignity, independently and impartially.
Dean Spielmann highly praised Armen Harutyunyan’s previous activities such as Human Rights Defender of Armenia, Special Representative of the UN Secretary General in Central Asia, and the head of the human rights monitoring mission in Ukraine.
The President of ECHR said that the newly elected judge should aim to promote the dialog with Armenian judicial system’s members. He wished success to Armen Harutyunyan.
