Heads of Investigative Committees of Armenia and Russia reach agreements on further cooperation
Head of Russian Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin and Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Armenia Avghan Hovsepyan came to an agreement in Moscow to develop cooperation in the field of criminal justice, official representative of Russia’s IC Vladimir Markin told RIA Novosti on Wednesday.
The sides discussed issues related to strengthening bilateral cooperation, raising the efficiency of mutual legal assistance concerning the criminal cases investigated by Investigative Committees of Armenia and Russia, Markin said.
“Agreements were reached to develop criminal justice cooperation,” he said.
One of the high-profile cases involving cooperation of the Investigative Committees of the two countries is the case of Valery Permyakov, a conscript of the Russian military base in Armenia who is charged with the murder of the Avetisyan family in Gyumri this year. Russian investigators have transferred the materials of the case to competent bodies of Armenia where Permyakov will stand trial.
On August 12 the 5th Russian garrison military court held a hearing in the Armenian city of Gyumri. V. Permaykov received 10 years in high-security prison.
