8 life-termers in Armenia transferred from Nubarashen to other prisons
Eight Armenian inmates sentenced to life in prison will henceforth serve their term in semi-closed penal institutions, Panorama.am learned from Lusine Martirosyan, head of Armenian Justice Ministry’s press service.
She said the prisoners have already been transferred from Nubarashen prison to various other prisons of Armenia. Their names were not released.
Gor Glechyan, the head of the press service of Armenian Justice Ministry’s Penitentiary Department, told Panorama.am that given the expiry of the maximum term of 20 years, a decision was taken to transfer 8 people serving a life term from closed to semi-closed prisons. Besides, the fact that they did not commit malicious infringement during their term, and a positive tendency in behavior were taken into consideration.
