H. Abrahamyan reaffirms Armenia’s readiness to take active part in creation of Silk Road economic belt
Armenia once again reaffirms its readiness to take an active part in the building of Silk Road economic belt, Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan said in his speech at the opening of 2015 Euro-Asia Economic Forum in Xian, China’s Shaanxi province, the press office of Armenian government reports.
‘The revival of the Great Silk Road, once a significant trade route, will promote economic and social development and political stability of the countries located along the road and, as a result, contribute to progress, prosperity and peace throughout the world,” the Armenian premier said.
In his speech, Hovik Abrahamyan also addressed the implementation of North-South Transport Corridor construction investment project that is of regional and geopolitical importance.
“A railway link between Armenia and Iran will become an important component of North-South Transport Corridor. Armenian-Iranian railway will ensure proportional and balanced development of the region and help expand economic ties between countries, “ H. Abrahamyan said adding that in this context, the issue of joint implementation of infrastructure projects is being considered, in particular the possible involvement of Chinese companies in North-South Corridor construction, and of a railway linking Armenia and Iran, which will ensure Armenia’s access to Central Asia and China.
