Serzh Sargsyan to Azerbaijan: «We will be consistent in finding and persecuting every one guilty for crimes against humanity»
«Derailing from the path of peaceful resolution of the conflict, Azerbaijan is also moving aside from the other principles of international law day by day. Day after day the criminal regime of Azerbaijan is diving deeper and deeper into the swamp of crimes against humanity», - President Serzh Sargsyan said in a statement before turning to the agenda of the Sixth session of the State Commission on Coordination of the events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, according to the Armenian President press office.
According to the press release, President Sargsyan further said at the beginning of the State Commission session:
«The laws of civilised world calls upon the humanity to put an end to the impunity for crimes against humanity. We will be consistent in finding and persecuting every one guilty – from those privates acting on orders to those commanders making orders. Shall there be no other alternative, we will serve as the punitive sword of humanity against those committing these crimes. We will do that until the civilised world is able to identify more workable mechanisms».
«When we declare that we are afraid of war, but are not afraid of fighting, those are not just empty words. Armenia, and when I say Armenia – Nagorno Karabakh is an indivisible part of it, is one of the most militarised regions in the world. You know, even our grandfathers used to say – there is nothing good in fight. And for the 20 years of imposed ceasefire, which, because of the leadership in Baku we have been unable to turn into peace, we have done everything we possibly could to avoid a new confrontation. We will do that now, again, and that will also include punitive measures, so that the adversary doesn’t have the illusion that its impudent stance can be let go».
«We will force the Azerbaijani government to accountability before its own people for these new pains caused to them. So much for now», - Serzh Sargsyan concluded.
