State Youth Orchestra of Armenia, A. Malikyan pay tribute to Armenian Genocide victims with concert in Spain
The State Youth Orchestra of Armenia conducted by Sergei Smbatyan performed on the same stage with world-renowned violinist Ara Malikyan nominated for a Latin Grammy. The concert was a tribute to the memory of the Armenian Genocide, the orchestra’s press service said.
The concerts tok place at Mozart Concert Hall of Saragossa on September 25 and the Royal Theatre in Madrid on September 26. All tickets were sold out several weeks ahead.
The musicians received an unprecedented reception from the audience. They performed pieces by Khachaturyan, Mendelssohn, Tchaikovsky and other composers, and works from the repertoire of Led Zeppelin band. The concert also featured Malikyan’s ‘1915’, a work dedicated to the Armenian Genocide victims. Ara Malikyan wrote ‘1915” for those concerts.
