Armenian Tsakhadzor in winter resort top list, Azerbaijan remains outside
Tsakhkadzor, an Armenian ski resort, ranked 2nd in a rating of popular ski resorts in the CIS countries, compiled by the online hotel booking service Oktogo.ru, according to the Russian website Travel.ru.
The list – topped by Shymbulak, Kazakhstan – was compiled with the consideration of the booking data for the New Year holiday period (1-10 January 2016) by tourists travelling independently, without the help of tour agencies. The cities included in the list are Shymbulak (Kazakhstan), Tsakhkadzor (Armenia), Lahoysk (Belarus), Karakol (Kyrgyzstan), Gudauri (Georgia), Bukovel (Ukraine), Bakuriani (Georgia), “Altay Alps” (Kazakhstan), Chimgan (Uzbekistan) and Silichy (Belarus).
According to the research data, what attracts most to the Russian tourists in the ski resorts in the CIS countries and the near abroad is the opportunity to speak in their native language, as well as the visa-free entry, good service level, favorable natural conditions and affordable prices.
Remarkably, Azerbaijan’s multi billon investments and the ambition to become a country with developed ski resort service did not help it get into the list.
