Armenian parliament votes in favor of holding referendum on draft constitutional amendments
The National Assembly of Armenia adopted today, on October 5, the draft decision of the National Assembly on its consent for the Armenian president-initiated draft amendments to the Constitution of Armenia to be put to areferendum. The draft was adopted by a majority of votes: 104 MP voted in favor, 10 against, and there were 3 abstentions.
The draft was supported by the parliamentary factions of the Republican Party of Armenia, ARF-Dashnaktsutyun, and Prosperous Armenia Party. The factions of opposition parties – Heritage Party and Armenian National Congress as well as two MPs of Orinats Yerkir (OEK) faction voted against the draft’s adoption. Another three MPs of OEK abstained from voting.
