Yerevan hosts international forum for challenges of peace operations
The annual International Forum for the Challenges of Peace Operations started in Yerevan today, on October 5. The United Nations’ Assistant Secretary General for Peacekeeping Operations Edmond Mulet is among the forum participants.
The event held on October 5-6 is co-sponsored by the Institute for National Strategic Studies of Armenian Defense Ministry. 58 representatives from 16 countries will discuss modern problems of international peacekeeping operations.
UN Assistant Secretary General for Peacekeeping Operations Edmond Mulet said in his speech that the number of serious armed conflicts has doubled since 2008, with nearly 60 million people fleeing their homes because of those conflicts.
