Sale of ENA to Tashir Group to be benefit both people and businesses: Head of Union of Armenian Employers
The Republican Union of Employers of Armenia approves the Armenian government’s decision to sell Electric Networks of Armenia (ENA) Company to Tashir Group, the Union’s Chairman Gagik Makaryan told a press conference today.
He said the deal is going to benefit both people and businesses. “We got rid of a team using kickbacks in its activities,” Makaryan noted.
He underlined the importance of the fact that the buyer is an Armenian. “Investments of the new owner will help develop the system and improve the quality of services of ENA,” he said.
The union chairman expressed hope the company will start paying attention to the technical aspect and quality and upgrade transformers and safety devices as the quality of electric power in Armenia does not fully meet international standards.
To remind, at the October 1 session of the government Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan announced that the Armenian authorities asked President of Tashir Group Samvel Karapetyan to purchase Electric Networks of Armenia (ENA) CJSC from Inter RAO. Armenia’s Public Services Regulatory Commission on October 1 gave consent for the sale of 100% of ENA shares. “Tashir Group President Samvel Karapetyan expressed a readiness to provide his personal funds until August 1, 2016, so as – on a parity basis with the government – to compensate the difference due the tariffs rise for households consuming up to 250 kWh per month and small businesses,” the premier added.
