Iranian Deputy FM: Nuclear deal opens up opportunities to develop Armenian-Iranian cooperation
Armenia and Iran have had an excellent relationship since Armenia gained independence, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Murtaza Sarmadi was quoted as saying by Iran’s Mehr news agency.
At a meeting with Armenian Ambassador to Iran Artashes Tumanyan, the deputy foreign minister said in particular, when speaking about the prospects of Armenian-Iranian economic cooperation: “There have been excellent relations between Armenia and Iran since the moment when Armenia gained independence. The nuclear deal between Iran and six world powers opens up opportunities for deepening Armenian-Iranian economic cooperation”.
Ambassador Tumanyan for his part stressed the importance of Iran’s nuclear deal and said it will help promote bilateral economic links.
“A number of Armenian companies want to make investment in Iran. We will welcome the intention of Iranian companies to invest in Armenia,” the ambassador said adding that Armenia is a member of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), which will allow Iranian companies to export their goods to markets of EAEU member states.
