Ex-president R. Kocharyan’s interview on constitutional reform makes NA vice speaker ask a slew of questions
During a briefing in the parliament today, the spokesman for the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), vice speaker of Armenia’s National Assembly Edward Sharmazanov touched upon the opinions voiced by second Armenian President Robert Kocharyan in his October 6 interview about the constitutional reform in Armenia.
“A key point obviously recurs in the second president’s interview consisting of only one question. It is the statement that the new Constitution is a “tool for the reproduction of the vicious system”. You should pay attention to that statement. A question arises in this connection: When did that vicious system emerge, in what conditions, and what produced it? Besides, if that system is indeed vicious and seeks reproduction, how can we fight against it without changing anything?” Edward Sharmazanov said.
“On the other hand, I understand the objective grounds for the assessment given by the second president. It is completely clear that people find it difficult to part with what they created,” Sharmazanov added.
