Haykakan Zhamanak: Yerevan municipality regards Erebuni-Yerevan festivity expenses as state secret
‘Haykakan Zhamanak’ daily says that Yerevan municipality regards the expenses on Erebuni-Yerevan festivities as a state secret, refusing to provide citizens with information about how it spent over 150 million drams. In late September the paper’s correspondent sent a written inquiry to the municipality regarding expenses on last year’s Erebuni-Yerevan celebrations, and an estimate of expenses for this year. Besides, the municipality was asked to say how much was donated by sponsors for the festivities in the last two years.
“130 million drams is known to have been allocated from the community budget last year and now, and there were also private donations, but the city authorities are unwilling to shed light on those questions and our written inquiry remained unanswered”.
“However, at a recent press conference deputy mayor Aram Sukiasyan somewhat reluctantly told our correspondent that 30 million drams was received from sponsors this year and the figure has an upward tendency,” the paper writes.
