Armenian president receives Rosatom head Sergei Kiriyenko
Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan received today, on October 7, Director General of Russia’s Rosatom state nuclear energy corporation Sergei Kiriyenko, according to the presidential press service.
The Armenian president said the energy sector has an important and special place on the agenda of Armenian-Russian allied partnership, and for that reason the implementation of joint long-term energy programs was discussed in detail at the meeting with the Russian president a month ago.
The interlocutors appreciated highly the level of cooperation in the energy sector between the two countries. Kiriyenko spoke about the outcome of Yerevan-hosted sitting today of the Joint Coordinating Committee of Armenian Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources and Rosatom Corporation, including the documents signed.
The sitting was convened to discuss the extension of the service life of 2nd power unit of Armenian Nuclear Power Plant. Sergei Kiriyenko informed the president about the intermediate results of the Russian side’s work on general inspection of the power unit and discussed further work.
