Baku residents: Azerbaijani society psychologically not ready for war
The majority of the youth in Azerbaijan speaks about being ready for war; still they also say they do not want to fight and speak for a peaceful resolution for the conflict. The adults absolutely do not want that a war with the Armenians break out, according to Minval.az.
The website published a video, which shows a poll conducted by Musavat.com’s journalists among the Baku residents to find out the public opinion regarding the issue.
When asked whether he believed the Azerbaijani military force was sufficient to “return the Karabakh lands,” a young Baku resident said, “We are not ready for war as our society is not ready for it psychologically.”
Another young man said that even if they are ready for war, the issue must be settled down peacefully. A third respondent was of a similar opinion and added that he did not believe a war would start or that the situation would not change.
Only one of the six young men under poll expressed confidence and readiness to fight.
Most of the adult respondents also spoke for a nonviolent settlement of the conflict.
“In case of war, we will lose our youth. We do not need war. Let the issue be settled down peacefully,” an adult man told Musavat.com.
