Baghdasaryan: Government will do its best for constitutional reform recognition by international community
The political forces should be active so that the referendum on the constitutional reform in Armenia will be held as transparently as possible because it has to do with the Constitution, and the international community will be following the events, the head of the Republican Party of Armenia’s (RPA) parliamentary faction Vahram Baghdasaryan said during a briefing in the National Assembly today.
In his words, the authorities should do their best to make sure that the referendum is free and fair.
“Irrespective of the question put to the referendum, naturally there will be criticism, even though there are no winners and losers during a constitutional reform referendum as the matter concerns the law. But, as usual, the party that lost will start criticizing the event so as to justify own defeat. RPA and the government will do everything so that the referendum will be conducted properly and transparently and be recognized by the international community,” Baghdasaryan said.
Commenting on statements made by members of opposition parties Orinats Yerkir and ARF-Dashnaktsutyun to the effect that they will attempt to increase their representation in the next parliament , the head of RPA faction said that any political party wants to gain as many seats as possible in the parliament.
“I welcome that optimistic mood and call on all the parties to display the same approach. Time will show what representation RPA will have in the next parliament,” V. Baghdasaryan said.
