FM Nalbandyan: Francophonie Ministerial Conference adopted 5 resolutions, including those on genocide prevention
The 31st session of the Ministerial Conference of the International Organization of La Francophonie held in Yerevan gave Armenia a good opportunity to reaffirm its commitment to the values and goals of La Francophonie, Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandyan said today at a joint press conference with Secretary General of La Francophonie, Michaelle Jean.
Five resolutions, three of which were initiated by Armenia, have been adopted at the Ministerial Conference. One of them is about the prevention of genocides and refers to the significant statement made by Secretary General of La Francophonie on the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.
Nalbandyan also said that he and M. Jean had a meaningful conversation at a warm meeting, during which they discussed the results of the ministerial conference. The conference can be considered a success, the foreign minister said.
“I would like to say that the ministerial conference served as a good platform for bilateral meetings. My counterparts for various countries held dozens of meetings. I also took the opportunity and had about 25 meetings. We signed several documents with foreign ministers of La Francophonie states,” he said.
Edward Nalbandyan presented Michaelle Jean with the gold medal of Armenian Foreign Ministry for her assistance with the organization and holding of the 31st session of La Francophonie’s Ministerial Conference.
