MP: Farm produce is of strategic importance so even ambassadors should be engaged in agriculture organization work
The authorities are unable to properly organize agricultural operations in Armenia, and every year the country faces the same problems, MP of the opposition faction ‘Prosperous Armenia’ Lyova Khachatyan told a press conference today.
“After all, farm produce is of strategic importance. It contributes to a positive balance of GDP, while starting 2020, tax privileges of the agricultural sector will be dropped, which means it will also contribute to the state budget,” the deputy said.
According to him, not only agriculture ministry should be responsible for organization of agricultural works, but also ministry of economy, regional administrations, and even ambassadors should be involved.
“The problem will not be solved unless the whole chain functions, unless exports are organized by joint efforts,” he noted.
L. Khachatryan also highlighted the role of village administrators. He said that problems usually arise in villages where the administrator is a formal figure, rather than in those communities “where village heads are like fathers”.
