FM Nalbandyan: We attach special importance to European Commission’s negotiating mandate with Armenia
Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandyan made a statement regarding the negotiating mandate given by the EU Council to the European Commission for conducting negotiations on a new agreement with Armenia, according to the press service of Armenian Foreign Ministry.
“We attach special importance to the mandate given to the European Commission for the purpose of launching negotiations about a new legal framework of relations with Armenia. We sincerely hope that the document to be worked out through negotiations will reflect successful cooperation between Armenianand the European Union, tale those relations to a new level, and predetermine comprehensive partnership and mutual interest in all the areas,” E. Nalbandyan said.
As was reported, at the meeting held in Luxembourg yesterday, on October 12, the Council of the European Union authorized the European Commission and the High Representative to open negotiations on a new, legally binding and overarching agreement with Armenia, and adopted the corresponding negotiating mandate. This agreement will replace the current EU-Armenia partnership and cooperation agreement.
