Orange Armenia upgrades WiFi modems in 50 buses in Yerevan
From now on many more passengers of 4 bus routes in Yerevan can have access to free WiFi internet provided by Orange Armenia. In the scope of the partnership of Orange Armenia and Yerevan City Hall, Orange MyBox 3G/WiFi modems have been installed in 50 buses of 5, 20, 41 and 28 bus routes, which serve the majority of city’s students. These modems enable simultaneous connection of 32 devices to the Internet and provide up to 21.6Mbps internet speed.
“We stress the importance of this project, as, in fact, it truly demonstrates how innovative technologies can improve people’s everyday life. By using the benefits of mobile internet we make the time spent by passengers in the bus more eventful and enable them to stay in touch with friends, read daily news and surf on the Web without extra costs,” said Aleksandr Yesayan, General Director of Orange Armenia.
The partnership with Yerevan City Hall in the scope of “WiFi everywhere” project dates back to 2011, when Orange WiFi modems were installed in buses. Now, parallel to technological progress, as well as considering rather a big number of smartphone and tablet users, Orange Armenia has upgraded the internet modems installed in the buses, serving the aforementioned 4 routes, to Orange MyBox modems , as the latter enable to simultaneously connect more devices to the Internet. Passengers of the remaining buses will continue benefiting from WiFi internet provided by Orange MyFi modems.
