Small plane crashes into mobile homes; 2 catch fire
A small plane crashed into a mobile home park in Florida on Tuesday, setting two of the homes on fire, sending a black plume of smoke into the sky, and leaving an "unknown number of victims," authorities said, according to Associated Press.
The aircraft hit two homes at the Mar-Mak Colony Club in Palm Springs before 6 p.m., Palm Beach County Fire Rescue Capt. Albert Borroto said in an email. Responding crews reported a visible column of smoke after 911 callers reported a low flying aircraft, he said.
Borroto said one mobile home was completely engulfed in flames, and he said there was an "unknown number of victims," but he wouldn't say how many people were injured or if anyone had died. The Red Cross had been called to assist two families, he said.
An AP reporter on the scene saw workers loading two stretchers into a white van. Each stretcher appeared to hold a covered body.
